Ingredients
- 2 sheets short crust pastry
- Approx 8 apples peeled, cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 TBSP flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
Method
- Preheat oven to 220 celcius. Grease a pie dish.
- Melt the butter in the saucepan, add flour and mix to paste.
- Add water and sugars and bring to the boil. Reduce temp and let simmer.
- Place pastry in base of pie. Add apples to fill it right up (mounding is fine!)
- Lattice pastry across the top.
- Pour the sugar liquid gently over the pie crust, slowly to make sure it doesn’t run off.
- Bake for 15 minutes at the high temp of 220, then reduce temperature to 175 for the remaining 30-40 minute cook time.
