Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups dates, chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 TBSP sugar
- 1 TBSP cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter
- Zest of an orange
- 1 1/4 cups milk
Method
- Preheat oven to 220 fan bake & line a baking tray with baking paper
- Place chopped dates in a saucepan with the water on medium heat. Simmer until tender (10 ish mins) then drain excess water and set aside.
- Place flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cinnamon into a bowl. Run in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add dates and orange zest and mix through.
- Add milk and quickly mix with a fork or knife until just combined. The mixture will be soft and sticky.
- Place in 12 blobs on the baking tray and bake for 10-15 mins until golden brown.
